Final Evaluation of BMZ-PT funded education project in Lebanon
Overview:
SSSE (Society for Social Support and Education), a Lebanese NGO, transitioned from SSS in 2019, focusing exclusively on the education of Syrian refugee children in the Bekaa Valley. The project, funded by BMZ, was initiated to provide non-formal quality education for Syrian refugee children. It aimed to prepare them for formal Lebanese education while empowering parents, enhancing teacher capacity, and fostering engagement within the Lebanese host community. The final evaluation aimed to comprehensively assess the project’s performance by evaluating its relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, impact, and sustainability. It sought to provide actionable recommendations for ongoing improvement and future project design.
Methodology:
To conduct this evaluation, a thorough and structured methodology was employed. It encompassed document reviews, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and direct observations, ensuring a holistic assessment of the project’s outcomes and impacts. The evaluation addressed key questions concerning the project’s relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability. It sought to identify areas of success and opportunities for enhancement. This final evaluation not only offered a retrospective analysis of the Syrian Crisis Educational Project in Bekaa but also provided valuable insights and recommendations for shaping future educational initiatives in support of Syrian refugee children in Lebanon.
